About Geert
Brabant musician Geert Chatrou has been playing the flute for as long as he can remember.
What most consider a casual gesture grew for him into a way of listening and eventually into a fully-fledged musical instrument. With nothing more than his lips, he creates a richness of sound, nuance, and expression that is rarely heard.
His talent was noticed early on. In 2004, somewhat unexpectedly, he was entered into the World Whistling Championship in the United States and immediately won first prize. In the years that followed, two more world titles were won, establishing him as one of the world's leading whistlers.
Since then, he has performed with a wide variety of orchestras, ensembles, and musicians, ranging from symphony orchestras and chamber music ensembles to jazz formations. His collaborations move effortlessly between styles and disciplines.
His work for film and international productions forms a special chapter. For instance, his flute playing can be heard in the film *Le Petit Nicolas*, for which composer Klaus Badelt approached him because of his unique sound and expressive capabilities. In that same year, the award-winning documentary Pucker Up – The Fine Art of Whistling was released, following Geert during his first world championship. The film was broadcast worldwide and contributed to the international recognition of his work.

In addition to his performances, Geert released several albums, including Chatroubadour, Strange Flute (with Ocobar), and Ornithology, all of which were very positively received. Reviews praise his virtuosity, musicality, and ability to touch listeners directly.
From 2018 to 2026, Geert was part of Cirque du Soleil, where he performed in the show Corteo for an international audience. During this period, his work took on a new dimension, in which music, theater, and imagination come together.
After these intensive and inspiring years, he returns to his solo work.
